"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord" (Psalm 145).
Focusing On God’s Word and Christian Fellowship For all children from Pre-Kindergarten (age 3) through 6th Grade Every Sunday (September-May) at 9:15 A.M.
Jerusalem Sunday School is a Christian program maintained by Jerusalem Lutheran Congregation. This Sunday School is conducted to assist parents in meeting their God-given responsibility to "bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4) and to bring the gospel to the families of the community so that all people will learn the only way to eternal life through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
At Jerusalem's Sunday School, God's Word shines brightly through the Christ Light curriculum. Children in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade are taught a Bible story along with life application. Each lesson is enhanced and reinforced with fun activities and/or crafts. Children in grades 7 and 8 are taught what God's Word says and how to deal with common issues that they face in the world everyday.
At Jerusalem's Sunday School, children learn songs of praise and worship as well as fun songs. Fifteen minutes of the Sunday School hour are used for music time, which includes traditional and contemporary songs. The children learn a program for the Christmas Eve Children's Service and various other songs for presentations at occasional church services and fellowship potlucks. Other songs are learned just to keep in the children's hearts and minds.
At Jerusalem's Sunday School, children and their families come together a few times a year for fun and fellowship. We have an annual Christmas party that includes a "hot dog chili dump" for lunch, crafts, and an outing to sing Christmas carols at a local nursing home. In late winter a bowling outing gets everyone together for some more fun. In the spring a Sunday School Open House brings everyone together again.
Jerusalem's Sunday School is staffed with caring volunteers. Some are parents, some are high school students, some are new, some are veterans; but all have a heart to share Jesus with your children!
