 Grades 3-4, Music Director

Debbie Felsing comes to us from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Northwestern Preparatory School (now Luther Preparatory School) in 1992 and Martin Luther College in 1996 with a degree in Elementary Education, specializing in English. Debbie was called to serve as a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher at St. Matthew’s school in Niles, IL from 1996-2000. During that time, she also taught third and fourth grade, directed the music program, played organ, and coached soccer and forensics. While attending church at St. Matthew’s, Debbie met Brian Felsing, a mechanical engineer for Case New Holland in Burr Ridge, IL. They were married in 1998.

In the year 2000, Debbie enrolled in the Teacher’s Certification/Master’s in Education Program at North Park University in Chicago. While attending North Park from 2000-2002 she worked at Washington Elementary School in Niles as a remedial reading teacher assistant. There she worked with small groups and individuals from kindergarten through sixth grade on basic reading skills. After receiving her Illinois State Teaching License in 2002, Debbie taught at Gemini Junior High School in Niles instructing seventh and eighth grade students in Language Arts and Literature. Debbie taught at Gemini from 2002-2004.

In 2004, Debbie and Brian were blessed with a son, Joshua. At that time, Debbie decided to stay home and raise her family. In addition to their son, Sarah was born in 2006, and Rachel was born in 2011. While staying home, Debbie worked part time teaching piano lessons at the Park Ridge Park District. She also served as organist, Sunday school teacher, and choir director at New Life Lutheran church in Lake Zurich. She also started and taught a Preschool Enrichment Program. Debbie is eager and excited to serve at Jerusalem. The Felsing family feels truly blessed to be part of the Jerusalem family.
