Growing in Faith, Growing in Community

Since 1906, Jerusalem Lutheran School has been fulfilling the church’s mission of sharing the Gospel with children and families. Today, with 130 students attending daily, our building—largely unchanged since 1929—can no longer meet the growing needs of our school and church community. Grades 7-8 meet in the back of the church, and two offices have been converted into classrooms just to keep up with enrollment.

Our expansion project will create space for the next generation of students while also improving accessibility and fellowship for our entire congregation. Plans include four new classrooms, a new lobby, two offices, a dedicated school entrance, and an elevator—ensuring that everyone can participate fully in worship, learning, and community life at Jerusalem.

Holding Fast, Reaching Out is the theme of our special stewardship emphasis at Jerusalem. As we study God’s Word together, we seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who guides every decision we make. Through both spiritual growth and improvements to our ministry spaces, we aim to strengthen and unite our congregation while faithfully carrying out the mission God has entrusted to us. This season of stewardship is an opportunity for our church family to come together, serve joyfully, and see how God is leading the ministry of our church and school into the future.

Support Our Mission, Join Our Cause

Join us in expanding opportunities for both members of Jerusalem and students at Jerusalem Lutheran School. Your donation will help enhance our worship, fellowship and our students classrooms. Together, we can continue to create, share and grow all of the many blessings we have received through Him.

With expansion in mind, we must first remember our mission:

“Serving a diverse community with the unique message of Christ’s love.”

Enrollment Growth in the School

Over the last 5 years, the school experienced a huge enrollment growth. Now, we have to place caps on classrooms because we are receiving too many applications.

Expanding to Meet the Mission

Jerusalem Lutheran School has been serving the church's mission of spreading the Gospel to young children and their families since 1906.

Since then, the school has grown to 130 students daily, but the capacity of the building has remained the same since 1929, except for one classroom addition. Grades 7-8 students have their classes in the back of the church, and two offices had to be turned into two classrooms: The old Jerusalem room, and the former Mrs. Laura Boughton's classroom in the basement.

To resolve the challenge of the growing enrollment, it is identified that we need more classrooms in our school, so the school can continue to spread the Gospel to young people and their families, as past leaders at Jerusalem acknowledged when they first started the school.

However, school is not the only beneficiary of the expansion project. The church's fellowship hall access is limited due to its current location and is not easily accessible for some of our church members. Having an elevator can resolve this. By having an elevator through this expansion project we allow for any congregation member to access church meetings and events held in the fellowship hall.

Through the expansion project, we seek to add four classrooms, a new lobby, two offices, a new school entrance and an elevator.
